almost universal trouble into which the European
Community fell in 1891.
There are only a small number of brokers employed
now as compared with 1890 when they literally swarmed
over the offices and honge, tempting each and every
employee to join in the game.
Gambling is now confined more or less to those
who can afford it, and if there have been a few (a very
few) repudiations of contracts, that has served to
keep the law in the minds of the residents.
It is absolutely logical, to my mind, to treat
share transactions other than specific ones in the
Bame category as private betting or card games.
